As OBEC merges with DOWL, it is more important than ever that we nurture a safety-first mentality. DOWL has a policy which requires a "safety minute" to be conducted every time there are four or more people in attendance at a meeting (in person or remotely). What is a safety minute? It's simply the following:
A short and to the point (1- 3 minutes) safety share on a relevant or important topic at the time given.
Even though the mantra is "If you see something, say something," many people (including me) often don't. Here is a fascinating safety-minute fax from a guy who got it right in 1996. Boy, has he got guts!
Next time you see a safety hazard, please address the issue right away--before a message like this is sent out!
